Nostalgic charm oozing with soft, sweet sugary pink fancies! This 21" round wreath is a welcomed yummy treat to the eyes! Shabby pillowey pink feathers, authentic vintage baubles and buttons. Pink, white and black lustrous glitter accent the vintage inspired St. Valentine cards. Dainty paper lace white and hand painted pink heart doilies add an enchanting touch. I made a wreath similar to this a year or so ago and the buyer was ecstatic to say the least with it’s sweet charm and construction.

Crepe Paper Rosette~First Attempt

So~I've been working hard lately trying to fill my Etsy and eBay store again. I slacked off for awhile and am starting to groove with things. I have so many ideas running through my head, one involving the crepe paper rosette. How can one little pretty have so many different ways to be made? Some easy and some you need to have three hands to make! In the next week or two after I've mastered the rosette, I'm going to post the my instructions. Hopefully, I'll be able to convey it in an easy to follow manner. Fingers Crossed!

My Heart and its Kitchen of Delight

St. Valentine's Day

Ahh...The time of year where you transform your heart into a kitchen of delight! It's a time to use your imagination from the heart and, while holding true to old traditions, start a few new ones. There is nothing as sweet as homemade and vintage valentine cards, fancy pastries, chocolate hearts, candies and lollipops shaped as hearts with white confection trim that melts on your tongue. Vintage lace and millinery, white, delicate paper doilies...Need I say more?

When I was a little girl, every year my dad brought me home a box of chocolate that was shaped with the big chocolate letters "I (heart) U". This meant a lot because I could count on one hand how many times my father said it. Now that I have children, I'm always finding ways to mix things up for Valentine's Day. I rarely buy anything, except crafting supplies, because like I said...it's the holiday to use the kitchen in my heart to create beautiful memories so that they are always reminded how much I love them. It truly is the holiday that comes straight from the heart.

Table Parade~Council for the Arts

Seriously thinking about this but it requires planning. I did do the "Chair Parade" several years ago and brought in the second highest bid with my tribute to Eric Carle. It was so much fun to do. I hand painted all the tissue paper, like Eric does for his books and then made all the embellishments. The whole entire chair tells the story.

If anyone is interested, here are the particulars:

Table Parade 2010 The Council for the Arts presents “Table Parade!” an event reminiscent of the “Chair Parade!” in years past, but with an update. Artists should submit designs and entry forms by April 16, pick up their tables June 1-4, and deliver them by 5:00 PM, July 9, 2010. The tables will be on view at local businesses starting July 12. Silent auction bidding will conclude at the Capitol Theatre’s August 28 wine festival. Please call 264-6883 for more information. The entry form is downloadable at www.councilforthearts.net.

From the Chair Parade...

A few of my favorite things....

I'm so sad to say, that it has been awhile since I last wrote. This fall and winter has been VERY busy. The new year brings hope for a more consistant me! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. I sure did! Every year my husband takes the kids to the Dollar Store and has them walk around and try to pick on their own what special things mommy would like. It's fun to see how their little minds work and I was ticked to see all the gifts they came up with. My husband did well too! I love that he puts so much thought into what I might like. Here are only a few treasures I received and I wanted to share them with you.

First is a book I've wanted forever and a day~Blogging for Bliss by Tara Frey. I thought about buying it, but no...I held out for my darling dear to give it to me all wrapped up! It's about connecting, learning, and inspiring others through your own online journal. It includes beautiful screen shots from some of the best online crafty, creative blogs out there. We are heading to the beach and I can't wait to read it thoroughly there! Even if it says nothing, the pictures are worth the price of the book. So pretty, girlie and informative!

Secondly...

From an adorable little shop called Gypsie on the square of downtown Chambersburg, PA comes my favorite bar of soap. Pre de Provence French Soaps. It isn't the best smell in the world, but it lathers well and makes your skin feel like silk! It is a 72% Olive Oil Marseille-style milled soap. Great for babies, in the kitchen, laundry, shaving and bath. Asked how Sopia Loren keeps her beautiful skin young looking, "A love of life, spaghetti, and the odd bath in olive oil."

Thirdly...

This is one of those special gifts that I will cherish forever given to me by my husband. This piece of art was painted by a Waynesboro, PA artist named Linda Pedersen of LinLeigh Studio. It's called Two American Beauties. She did a wonderful job framing it and I can not wait to hang it up! We are renovating our downstairs bath into a vintage beach theme and this will work perfectly! If you are interested in stopping by her beautifully renovated studio that is nestled in the hills of Five Forks, her hours are by appointment only and her number is 717-762-0656. I will note that she does esquisite portraits for a very reasonable price.

Last but not least~from my sister...
