MacKenzie-Childs Revisited

Several years ago, my sister, mom and I went to Palm Beach, FL. We were fortunate enough to visit MacKenzie-Childs. What a BEAUTIFUL store! Well...being that I couldn't afford anything from there, I made my own version. I took a cruddy looking, Home Interiors candleabra and added a little Vavoom into it and gave it to my sister for her birthday. Visit their site at www.mackenzie-childs.com It's awsome treats for the eyes!

The Little Candleabra That Would Be Something Great

Spring has sprung and gone...so put away that wreath!

Spring has sprung and gone...so put away that wreath!

Still standing~A vintage-inspired wreath I made this spring. I love how it turned out. Unfortunately, it clashes with my winter bird scene that is on my mailbox wrap. How tacky. I couldn't figure out how to get the stinkin' thing off the box. Maybe I should just call it a seasonal house. At least I don't have up Christmas lights!

Have a Peachy Day!

This is one of my favorite peach recipes. The bottom is warm and gooey and the top has a pretty, soft cakey top.

Old Fashioned Yummy Peach Cobbler

4 cups peeled, sliced peaches

2 cups sugar, divided

1/2 cup water

8 tablespoons butter

1 1/2 cups self-rising flour

1 1/2 cups milk

Ground cinnamon, optional

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat. Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt. Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir.

Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using. Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.

To serve, scoop onto a plate and serve with your choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

To make real, fresh whipped cream. Mix 1 c. heavy whipping cream with 1/2 c. sugar and beat on high until desired consistancy. I mix this up all the time and it's so yummy. Like most, I love sucking it from the spray can, but this really does taste better when it's fresh!

Invitations Galore

Still going. These are really fun to create!

Maximum Love for Maximal Art

For my son's first Christmas, my sister bought him this very heavy, gold Christmas star ornament. It was so pretty. The designer was from Maximal Art. I had never heard of him/her/it. Didn't know what it was. Well, it is a company that was started by Philly native, John Wind in 1985 and is vintage-inspired jewelry. Hope you enjoy a little eye candy for a gloomy Wednesday.
